On the Run...

Phew!  I just returned late last night from visiting Lauren for a week and ran out today for a haircut and a ton of errands so we can run up to the lake tomorrow.  I'll post pictures of the trip to Indiana later on.  It was a ton of fun for me! I had a blast!  And I think Lauren had some fun too ;)

While Lauren and I were whooping it up in West Lafayette, we welcomed the newest family member, baby Kendall Paige!  I just love how there's a posse of little girls on the East Coast who are all around the same age.  That is going to be fun for years to come....! Congratulations to Angela and Greg, sisters Brielle and Camryn and Grandma and Grandpa, Gail and Doug.  Kendall could not know this yet but she is a lucky little girl!

As for the West Coast, since all three of my kids seem to be working their collective butts off, I just wanted to post, for them, one of my favorite quotes of all time:

           Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence.
           Talent will not;
           Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
           Genius will not.
           Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
           Education will not;
           The world is full of educated derelicts (Lauren: you can ignore that line for now)
           Persistence and Determination alone are omnipotent.
           "Press On"  has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Valentines Day

Here's an interesting idea for Valentines Day...
(Hmmmm....Does this count as adult content on my blog?)
  Oooops... Well, it comes from the blog, "Between Naps On The Porch" which is a link on the sidebar of this blog and she comes up with some great table settings and ideas.   I really like her blog and this is just one of the things she's come up with.

I'm actually not going to be here on Valentines Day because I'll be headed out to see Lauren.  It was cheaper to fly out on February 14th and it's also a good time in between her exams and homework.  Dave and Drew will be holding down the fort while I'm away.  Lauren and I are going to spend the weekend in Chicago and the rest of the time I'll just hang out in the hotel on campus and devour a couple of good books while she's in class.  Happy Valentine's Day!

Dave and I were up at the lake this past week.  We love to watch the sun set because it's always a quiet time to watch the birds and the ducks and to talk.  This week we were remembering Boomp and all the great stories we have of him.  He will be dearly missed. But the stories will continue..
